1. i feel like i’m on jet lag ever since i read shakespeare until 5 am. i don’t know why i do these things. that’s why i’m up. also i have no life. 2. i have a relatively high, childlike voice in comparison to others. it bothers me. 3. it is 3:15am. in 2 hours my sister will wake up and go back to berkeley. 4. when i was 8, i know moons rotated around the earth and the...

consciousness
it appears oftentimes the people who are the most pained are the ones who think more about their lives and the significance of each event. you see, everyone has problems, but so many close themselves off to the reality of the problem. i think it might be because it’s too much to process, so people just blow it off and leave in their subconscious to fester and manifest in unhealthier ways....

a child's trouble: condescension
i really am so frustrated by adults who take respect for granted and think it only goes one way- to them. it kills me how much she needs to be in control to feel safe. it kills me how they think i’m being cutely presumptuous when i do or say anything that…really makes sense. they think it’s funny that i’m “trying to be mature” when it’s just what makes...

robertreich: History will record 2010 as the year Washington became “business friendly.” Not that it was all that unfriendly before. Some would say the bailouts of Wall Street, AIG, GM, and Chysler were about as friendly as it can get. In addition, Washington gave windfalls to drug companies and health…

QUEER ODOR ▽ ⚧: DADT →
hairyqueerkid: Don’t Ask Don’t Tell was repealed today. I’m so fucking sad and upset. I hate that i’m stuck in Florida, away from my queer family and friends. This should be a day of mourning. A fight errupted about DADT on my facebook. Here’s what i had to say: The military is fucked… “The military is full of poor people, and people of color. Now it gets to be full of queer...

i LOVE this article!  a summary in quotes from the article: “The wars in Darfur and Somalia and between northern and southern Sudan all have roots in tribal competition for land and livestock. In northern Kenya, scores die every year in clashes over watering holes and cattle. And if all that weren’t enough, lately the Sahara and the Sahel have attracted a new fearsome breed of...

the snowball effect DISPROVED
i usually don’t like talking about school or my…life…i don’ know… but anyways: it all started with the C i got on the last test of the year in 5th grade. It was a fluke. Of course. I brushed off the teacher’s “deep disappointment” in me and moved on. And then came 6th grade. I kept getting Bs and the occasional C. and 7th, when it was Cs with the...

“All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury
No one in the class could remember a time when there wasn’t rain. “Ready?” “Ready.” “Now?” “Soon.” “Do the scientists really know?  Will it happen today, will it?” “Look, look; see for yourself!” The children pressed to each other like so many roses, so many weeds, intermixed, peering out for a look at the hidden sun. It...

Robert Reich: Why America's Two Economies Continue... →
robertreich: America’s two economies are getting wider apart. The Big Money economy is booming. According to a new Commerce Department report, third-quarter profits of American businesses rose at an annual record-breaking $1.659 trillion – besting even the boom year of 2006 (in nominal dollars). Profits…
